Every election year both the Republicans and the Democrats hold a convention in a city of their choosing. The main goal of the convention is to vote for a candidate to run for president, and to fire up their base to get out the vote in the coming election. It was recently announced that the Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago in 2024.
That's the perfect place for them to hold their convention, because Chicago epitomizes all of the Democrat's failed policies, all in one city. Here are a few reasons why Chicago represents everything the Democrats have done wrong in the past few decades:
- Very high crime rate: Chicago's murder rate has increased by nearly 40% since 2019, and the leaders of the city are either unwilling or unable to do anything about it. In fact, the newly elected Mayor just said that he would defund the police, which is a terrible way to combat the high crime rate in the city.
- Rampant corruption: the city is rated among the most corrupt in America, boasting more than a dozen public corruption convictions each year from it's politicians and local business leaders.
- Population decline: just like San Francisco and Portland, Chicago has seen it's fair share of businesses and residents flee the city because of it's rampant crime and corruption.
- The Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax: don't forget that Chicago is the city where actor Jussie Smollett faked a hate crime, which is perhaps the most Democratic thing to do in an era where fake hate crimes are taken more seriously than actual murders and robberies.
