Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) unleashed his now nationally known verbal judo against President Joe Biden during a Thursday interview with Fox News' “America Reports.” Kennedy's current target? Biden's latest catastrophic controversy of careless, casual, and consistently illegal classified information storage.
During the Fox News appearance, Kennedy quipped,
“I just find all of this surreal. It’s almost like watching a Quentin Tarantino movie. I suppose my first thought is that all of this is yet one more example of why in Washington, D.C., if it were not for double standards, there won’t be any standards at all. I’m not surprised that the attorney general has appointed a special counsel. I’m not sure he had a choice. The White House has tried, and the White House does not have enough hazmat suits to clean up this mess. Aside from the obvious that the Justice Department is investigating President Trump for something that President Biden himself may have done, there are a lot of other intriguing questions for the inspector general.”
The Senator from Louisiana continued questioning the over 60 day delay in reporting the initial discovery of classified documents. “Was there a cover-up? The powers that be have known about all this since November 2nd. It’s now the middle of January. Was there a cover-up? Who was involved?”
Kennedy then suggested that the National Archives needs to answer for the glaring difference in its reaction to Biden's classified document issue as opposed to former President Donald Trump's.
“What’s the role of the National Archives in all of this? The National Archives was scathingly critical of President Trump and his documents,” he observed. “They have known about all of this since November 2 or 3. They have been missing in action with respect to President Biden and his documents. You could not have found them with a search party. We still have not heard from them. What’s up with that?”
In a Twitter post on Thursday, Kennedy hearkened back to the Watergate scandal asking, “What did the WH know about the Biden documents, and when did they know it?” This line echoes famous fellow Senator Howard Baker who asked “What did the President know and when did he know it?” about former President Richard Nixon.

Kennedy has become well known for his brutal political roasts since he launched an incredibly blunt ad in October advising those who support defunding police to instead “Call a crackhead.”
Biden has since had two further caches of classified documents discovered after being mishandled by him and his staff. Another stash of documents was found at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C. and an additional collection was located in his Wilmington, Delaware garage alongside his now-infamous Corvette.
DOOCY: “Classified materials next to your Corvette?! What were you thinking?”
BIDEN: “My Corvette's in a locked garage so it's not like it's sitting on the street.”
DOOCY: “So the material was in a locked garage?”
BIDEN: “Yes— as well as my Corvette.”

Attorney General Merrick Garland has since announced the appointment of a Dept. of Justice Special Counsel to investigate Biden's handling of classified documents by tapping experienced prosecutor Robert Hur, according to The Hill.
“This appointment underscores for the public the department’s commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters, and to making decisions indisputably guided only by the facts and the law,” Garland told reporters Thursday, according to the outlet.
Time will tell if Special Counsel Hur can provide the answers that Sen. Kennedy and the American people are looking for.
