Somalian terrorist on FBI watch list apprehended, released by border agents in 2023 rearrested after spending 1 year living freely in US

A known Somali terrorist spent nearly a year in the US after being wrongly released by the feds before he was arrested again.

According to a report from the New York Post, a 27-year-old Somalian man, yet to be identified, was on the terrorist watchlist as “a confirmed member of al Shabaab” and was involved in the trafficking and transportation of explosives and firearms.

Despite this, the terrorist was released after initially being caught by authorities entering the country illegally in California in March of 2023. He was eventually rearrested in Minnesota in January.

GOP lawmakers are now demanding answers about the mishap. In a letter obtained by the Post, the lawmakers wrote, “Did the al-Shabbab terrorist travel to Minnesota with the assistance, either direct or indirect of an [Non-Governmental Organization]? If so, which NGO was responsible for transporting the individual to Minnesota?”

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer said in a statement about the incident, “The Biden administration’s open-borders agenda allowed a known terrorist to roam freely throughout our state, and now they must answer for their inexcusable negligence.”

The number of people crossing the border illegally into the US that have been apprehended and are on the terrorist watchlist has increased in recent years as the Biden administration’s soft border policies have led to a record influx of illegal immigrants.

Earlier in March a Hezbollah terrorist apprehended at US-Mexico border attempting to enter illegally said, “I'm going try to make a bomb” when he crossed into the country.
