Joe Biden unveiled his proposal for the next fiscal year. It is a massive $6.8 trillion budget proposal, which Just The News points out is $1 trillion more than last year's budget proposal. Biden has also suggested raising taxes to cover the budget.
As Shalanda Young, Biden's Director of the Office of Management and Budget, said about it “[y]ou [the rich] have to begin to pay your fair share.” Just the News notes that “[t]he Biden administration says the budget would reduce the deficit by nearly $3 trillion over the next decade. The White House plans on doing this by raising the overall corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, quadrupling corporate stock buybacks, and creating a new billionaire tax.” They also added that “[c]urrently, the national debt sits at more than $31 trillion, up from $27.7 trillion when Biden became president.”
This proposal has been met with a chorus of Republican opposition. Congressman Ben Cline (R-VA) declared on Twitter “Joe Biden’s $6.9 TRILLION budget proposal continues us on the downward economic spiral of more taxes, more debt, more inflation. House Republicans will FIGHT to stop this reckless plan by putting forward a budget that actually works FOR Americans, not against them.”

The Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) tweeted “President Biden just delivered his budget to Congress, and it is completely unserious. He proposes trillions in new taxes that you and your family will pay directly or through higher costs. Mr. President: Washington has a spending problem, NOT a revenue problem.”

Representative Rudy Yakym (R-IN) posted on Twitter that the President “likes to say ‘budgets are statements of values.' The budget proposal he released today shows exactly what he values: higher taxes, more spending, less freedom and even bigger government.”

He further wrote that “[i]nflation is a tax hurting every Hoosier. Spending even more and more money we don’t have will only make the problem worse.”
Inflation is a tax hurting every Hoosier.
Spending even more and more money we don’t have will only make the problem worse. @POTUS Biden needs to show he’s willing to work with us to get reckless spending under control.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IO) tweeted, “Pres Biden’s FY2024 budget proposal is a roadmap to fiscal ruin. From its delayed rollout to its reckless taxes & out-of-control spending, this budget sends a clear message: Pres Biden doesn’t seem to give a rip abt keeping his promises or securing the fiscal health of our nation.”

The Senate Budget GOP account called it a “unserious and unsustainable budget”.

Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) wrote “Pres. Biden’s budget is really a messaging bill to his radical base about what he believes in: Bigger government, higher taxes, more spending, and more regulation.”

Given the Republican control of the House of Representatives it is unlikely that Biden's spending package will pass in its current form.
