A devastating attack occurred on Thursday in Georgia as a mom was mauled to death by a pack of dogs outside the middle school her children attended.

Courtney Williams, aged 35, was attacked by the dogs on Thursday as she and her family waited at a bus stop outside Brooks County Middle School. According to a Facebook post by Williams' sister-in-law Crystal Cox, one of her sons bravely attempted to fend off the dogs to protect his sister, resulting in multiple lacerations. Graphic images shared by Cox depicted deep wounds to the boy's arms, legs, and head.

Another son sought help from a man inside the school, whom Cox referred to as “an angel,” to fight off the dogs and transport them to the hospital.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

“When deputies arrived, they encountered several aggressive dogs on the property. It was determined the juveniles had already been transported to a local hospital by a private citizen. Deputies subsequently located the body of Courtney Williams, white female, 35 years of age, in the yard of the residence,” GBI said in a statement.

While the specific breeds of the dogs involved remain uncertain, neighbors had been complaining about the need for animal control to provide assistance in removing the aggressive dogs from the neighborhood, according to WALB.

“People dump dogs all over the county and no one can get help with them because there’s no county animal control. Praying for this woman’s family. This is so sad,” one neighbor explained to WALB.

”I do feel for the family and for the kids because now they are going to have to celebrate Mother’s Day without their mother,” she added.
