Jamie Rhome, the Acting National Hurricane Center Director for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) got into a testy exchange with CNN’s Don Lemon Tuesday, when Lemon tried to tie the strengthening of recent hurricanes — including Hurricane Ian — directly to Climate Change.
“Can you tell us what this is and what effect the climate change has on this phenomenon?” Lemon pressed, to which Rhome replied, “Well, we can come back and talk about climate change at a later time.”
Rhome then described the storm in clear words, informing all of the viewers about the intensification of the storm. Lemon, who seemed uninterested in this information, continued to press Rhome on the climate change question.
“So listen, I just, I’m just trying to get the, you said you want to talk about climate change. But what effect does climate change to have on this phenomenon that is happening now? Because it seems these storms are intensifying. That’s the question.”
How rude! Rhome politely sidestepped the question because he had to inform viewers of Hurricane Ian, a category four storm. Climate Change is certainly a worthwhile discussion to have, but then was neither the time nor the place for the discussion. Yet, Rhome did reply, and he did so with facts and logic — putting Lemon in his place.
“I don’t think you can link climate change to any one event. On the whole, on the cumulative, climate change may be making storms worse, but to link it to any one event, I would caution against that.”
Lemon was completely floored, barely able to muster up a pertinent reply, “Okay, well, listen, I grew up there, and these storms are intensifying. Something is causing them to intensify.”
Lemon has been taking losses on the daily ever since he lost his cushy primetime gig. He got slammed like never before after turning a discussion on the death of Queen Elizabeth II into a debate about reparations. Lemon just can’t seem to stay on topic! All in all, Lemon is up to the same antics that made him a mainstay on the liberal CNN in the first place, only this time, it is not working in the slightest for him.
