JUST IN: White House congratulates ‘Swifties’ on Super Bowl win

Feb 12, 2024 | Political News

Opening up Monday’s White House press conference after the Kansas City Chiefs won Sunday’s Super Bowl, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wished a “congratulations to all the Swifties out there.” She was referencing the fans of Taylor Swift who have suddenly becom interested in the Chiefs due to Swift's romance with tight end Travis Kelce.

Jean-Pierre said, “Hope everyone got some rest after last night’s Super Bowl. The president was able to catch some of the game, and on his behalf, I want to extend a big congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on their third Super Bowl win in just five seasons, and also congratulations to all the Swifties out there.”

The Chiefs, who also won the 2023 Super Bowl against the Eagles, won the 2024 game 25-22 against the San Francisco 49ers.

The message from the White House to Swifties comes as the Biden campaign is seeking an endorsement from the pop star.

Biden is also reportedly being taught the ins and outs of Swift, with former comms director Kate Bedingfield briefing Biden on the Scooter Braun song ownership drama that has led to re-recordings of her earlier albums, and said that an endorsement from the singer could bring “her fans who aren't deeply engaged in politics” into the fold.
