In a stunning turn of events, InfoWars Founder and Pundit Alex Jones claimed he will not pay the $965 million verdict handed down to him in Connecticut this past Wednesday. The awarded damages concern remarks made on Jones's program pertaining to the Sandy Hook Shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012.
Jones went on Newsmax's ‘Eric Bolling The Balance' and said the following:
“I mean, we knew it was coming, I actually predicted it would be a billion-dollar verdict or more. The judge found me guilty in a default, although we gave them all the discovery, so they had no case… For five weeks they had people up there cry about their kids that died, I’m very sad about it, I didn’t kill their kids.” Jones remarked.
“O.J. Simpson was found civilly guilty of murdering two people, he paid $33.5 million. So I didn’t murder anybody, I just questioned a public event. I didn’t send people to harass anybody, I hardly ever even talked about it, it wasn’t an issue for the first five, six years. Then when Hillary ran against Trump, she ran against Trump on Sandy Hook, and a few little short clips she edited of me, and then the Democrats believe I was the Sandy Hook man.”
Then Jones claimed it will be hard for the filers to get any actual money out of him:
“So, look, nobody's talking about the appeal. We are very, very sure — like 99% — that this is such a joke, this thing is such a fiasco, such a kangaroo court, such a railroad job that these will be overturned, both the Texas rulings and the Connecticut rulings, at the Supreme Court of Connecticut and Texas, if not the Supreme Court of the United States… So they're asking again for over a billion and a half dollars. They've had a jury, who was told I was already guilty, say that I owe $965 million. Well, guess what? You can't get blood out of a stone ”
We await to see the results of these coming appeals.
