House Republicans Call For Action And Answers From Attorney General Garland Following Biden Classified Document Scandal Hidden Until After Midterms

A group of forty-five Congressional Republicans sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland this Wednesday, demanding accountability. The letter asks why investigations into Joe Biden's mishandling of classified documents were kept from the public eye until after the 2022 midterms.

The letter, penned by Representative Mark Alford (R-MO), was joined by forty-four of his Republican colleagues.

“Classified documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center on November 2, 2022, only six days prior to the midterm elections, which decided the balance of power for the 118th Congress,” the letter, obtained by the Daily Caller, begins. “This discovery occurred shortly before you appointed special counsel, Jack Smith, to criminally investigate President Trump as part of the Mar-a-Lago raid, a central issue in the midterms for both Congressional Democrats and Joe Biden.”

The letter poses a series of questions, questions the American people are demanding answers to, including:

BREAKING: SECOND STASH OF CLASSIFIED BIDEN DOCUMENTS FOUND, REPUBLICANS CALL FOR ACTION

  • “Did the White House request to withhold this information prior to the midterm elections?”
  • “Why did the Biden administration and your Department of Justice fail to disclose this information publicly?”
  • “Why was a special counsel not appointed and will you appoint a special counsel to investigate President Biden?”
  • “Was Congress ever notified? If yes, when were they notified?”

The letter adds that “the fact that President Trump is being criminally investigated for mishandling classified documents, while President Biden is not receiving the same level of scrutiny for his mishandling of classified documents, leads us to believe that the Justice Department’s investigation of President Trump is nothing more than a partisan and politically motivated attack on President Trump.”

Alford ends by saying, “for the reasons outlined above, we urge your response to this letter immediately.”

It isn't just congressional Republicans who deserve an immediate answer. We the people do as well. Federal agencies ought to be transparent and the American people need to be able to trust the Department of Justice. If Merrick Garland agrees with this sentiment, as he should, he will have no problem promptly replying to the request of these congressional Republicans.
