Grounds for Impeachment?: House Oversight Committee Finds Potential Bribery From China to Biden

Mar 18, 2023 | Political News

Revelations from an ongoing investigation of the House Oversight Committee have revealed that in 2017 the Chinese Communist Party-owned HK Limited Energy firm sent $3 million to a company run by known Biden family associate Robert Walker who subsequently distributed funds to members of the Biden family: President Joe Biden's son Hunter, brother James, daughter-in-law Hallie; and an as-yet unidentified “Biden.” The development suggests a potential case for bribery, an impeachable offense under Article II; Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution.

As reported by Breitbart News, the House Oversight Committee chaired by Republican Congressman James Comer of Kentucky found that “Walker, who has described himself as someone who ‘generally [has] been acting as a surrogate for H[unter] around the country and abroad pursuing opportunities,' received a $3 million payment from State Energy HK Limited, which was divvied up between four Biden family members: Hunter, James, Hallie, and an unknown Biden.”

The legal team for Hunter Biden issued a statement claiming that all of this was part of a “legitimate” private business venture with a Chinese company.

“As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses.”

According to Joel Pollak writing for Breitbart, “Many scholars say that a president can be impeached only for acts committed after taking office. But Democrats undermined that standard — not only by arguing that Trump could be impeached for “emoluments” as soon as he took office, but also by holding a second Senate trial for Trump even after he had left office in 2021.”

He added, “And in this case, it could well be argued that Biden’s foreign policy is an ongoing act affected by past financial benefit.”

Harrison Kass the Senior Editor at 19FortyFive, suggested that while an impeachment conviction of Biden from the Democrat-controlled Senate is unlikely, “the primary purpose of the investigation into Hunter Biden is to cause political damage to Joe Biden.”

He added, “The stated purpose of the investigation, to uncover wrongdoings that may have imperiled US national security, is likely pretext for going after the Bidens politically.”

That being said, the ultimate goal of the entire investigation is less to lead to an eventual impeachment conviction but rather to reveal to enough of the non-committed independents among the American people that the Biden family is hopelessly corrupt. Instead of an impeachment by Congress, the end goal could be an impeachment by the voters in November 2024.
