Georgia woman kidnapped, cut, burned when trying to leave work

Police in Dekalb County, Georgia, are looking for a suspect who is said to have kidnapped a woman on Wednesday, cut her body, and burned her face before she was able to escape.

The woman's family told local news out 11 Alive that a man approached her as she left her job at an accounting firm on Montreal Road and demanded she let him into the business. After she refused, the man forced her into his car and demanded she drive to an ATM to withdraw money. 

At one point during the altercation, the man cut the woman in the face. He also burned the woman, who is in her 60s, until she dropped him back off at her place of work and escaped.

After the encounter, the woman was able to drive to the Fire Station that was only a few hundred feet down the road.

DeKalb County Fire Captain Shaneqwa Eafford told the outlet, “Here in DeKalb, anything can happen, but a walk-up like that, I believe is rare.”

“We had a DeKalb Fire Rescue transport unit in the house that was able to take her immediately; no wait at all,” she added. “It was a blessing for her to be able to come to us and for us to be here as well.”

The family said the victim was still in the hospital recovering from at least one surgery due to the attack.
