Elon Musk Delivers Challenging Ultimatum to Chuck Schumer on January 6th Footage

On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer attacked Fox News host Tucker Carlson after he showcased an expose of an investigation his producers and him constructed using over 40,000 hours of footage from the January 6th Capitol Riot given by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Following his attacks, however, Twitter CEO Elon Musk delivered a fateful ultimatum.

Schumer previously called for Tucker Carlson to be silenced while on the Senate floor, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.

“Last night, millions of Americana tuned in to one of the most shameful hours we have ever seen on cable television,’ Schumer said of Tucker's Monday night broadcast. “With contempt for the facts, disregard of the risks, and knowing full well he was lying to his audience, Fox News host Tucker Carlson ran a lengthy segment last night arguing the January 6th Capitol attack was not a violent insurrection.”

“By diving deep into the waters of conspiracy and cherry-picking from thousands of hours of security footage, Mr. Carlson told the bald-faced lie that the Capitol attack, which we all saw with our own eyes, was somehow not an attack at all,” he claimed. “He tried to argue it was nothing more than a peaceful sightseeing tour, can you imagine? A non-violent demonstration. A perfectly fine and appropriate instance of people expressing their opinion.”

“Fox News should tell him not to. Fox News, Rupert Murdoch tell Tucker Carlson not to run a second segment of lies,” he demanded. “You know it’s a lie, you’ve admitted it’s a lie. Speaker McCarthy is every bit as culpable as Mr. Carlson. Speaker McCarthy’s decision to share security footage with Fox looked like a mistake from the very beginning. But after last night, it looks like a disaster. Speaker McCarthy has played a treacherous game by catering to the hard right. He’s enabled the Big Lie and has further eroded away our precious democracy.”

Schumer doubled down on his assertions on Twitter writing, “Speaker McCarthy has held the gavel for less than three months. But by sharing the January 6th security footage with Fox News, he has already done more than any party leader in Congress to enable the spread of Donald Trump’s Big Lie.”

In response to this, Twitter CEO Elon Musk issued an ultimatum to the senator asking if he would like to have the footage removed from the platform in order to stop its distribution.

“Do you want us to remove this video?” the billionaire asked.

While Majority Leader Schumer has yet to respond to the question, he did reveal that he was invited onto Tucker's show but refused to go on tweeting, “I was invited on Tucker Carlson’s show. I will agree to go on after Tucker Carlson admits to his viewers live on air that he has been lying to them about the 2020 elections and about what happened on January 6th.”

As Schumer continues to attack Carlson for his display of the unreleased January 6th footage, Speaker Kevin McCarthy has come out in support of Tucker saying that it brings much-needed transparency.
