Joe Biden and Donald Trump will participate in their first debate of the 2024 election cycle on June 27 live on CNN in Atlanta.

Trump told Fox News’ Brooke Singman, “I’ll be there,” and that he was “looking forward to being in beautiful Atlanta.”

The debate will air from the Atlanta studio at 9 pm.

Two Biden campaign sources told CNN that the debate will take place in the studio without a live audience.

The Biden campaign is seeking to have the microphones muted unless it is the speaker’s turn.

This comes after repeated back and forth between the two, with Trump first calling out Biden to debate “anytime, anywhere, anyplace.”

In a campaign ad posted by Biden, he agreed to debate Trump. He later told CNN that he wanted to debate in June and September.

Biden stated in another post that he had “received and accepted an invitation from CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”

In a press release from CNN, the outlet stated, “to ensure candidates may maximize time allotted in the debate, no audience will be present. Moderators for the debate and additional details will be announced at a later date.”

Qualifications to participate in the debate include the candidate’s name appearing on a “sufficient number of state ballots to reach the 270 electoral vote threshold to win the presidency prior to the eligibility deadline.”

Candidates must also “receive at least 15 percent in four separate national polls of registered or likely voters that meet CNN’s standards for reporting,” with polls that are considered qualifying including CNN, ABC News, Fox News, Monmouth University, Quinnipiac University, and the NEw York Times/Siena College.”
