BREAKING: Harvey Weinstein hospitalized after moving to NYC jail

Apr 27, 2024 | Political News

Former Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has been transferred to a hospital for undisclosed “medical reasons.”

The news came following being moved to a New York City jail after an appeal court ruling in upstate New York that nullified a previous rape conviction.

Weinstein's attorney reported that he was examined and subsequently sent to Bellevue Hospital due to apparent physical health issues.

“They examined him and sent him to Bellevue. It seems like he needs a lot of help, physically. He’s got a lot of problems. He’s getting all kinds of tests. He’s somewhat of a train wreck health wise,” said Weinstein's attorney Arthur Aidala.

The specifics of Weinstein's medical condition remain unclear. However, he has been dealing with various health issues for some time now including cardiac issues, diabetes, sleep apnea, and eye problems, according to the Independent.

Weinstein, who was convicted in 2020 of sexual assault and rape, was sentenced to 23 years in prison. Despite the appeals court ruling overturning his rape case, Weinstein is still in custody, serving a 16-year sentence from another case.
