Kamala Harris was socializing in Austin, Texas last week, but not because of her assigned duties as the “Border Czar”. Harris attended a high-class Texas Democratic Party fundraiser in an unprofessional and scandalous showing for our nation's Vice President.
In addition, Harris participated in a discussion at the LBJ Presidential Library on the University of Texas campus, where she spoke about protecting abortion rights, along with Mini Timmaraju, the president of NARAL Pro-Choice America.
Apparently, Harris cares more about “abortion rights” (improperly so-called) than our dangerous Southern border. She has become a leading voice for keeping abortion accessible to women despite the recent overturn of Roe by the Supreme Court. She recently appeared at a roundtable discussion with Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-Conn.) and Planned President Alexis McGill Johnson.
Harris continues to say that the “border is secure” when it is anything but that. How would she know, considering she has visited it just once? At that time, more than 180,000 immigrants had been arrested for entering the U.S. illegally, and more than 2 million will be caught this year. She continues to say the answer is to “create a pathway to citizenship.” Yet, she does nothing to address the real issues facing Americans.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott shipped two busloads of immigrants to DC, directly in front of Harris's residence in our nation's Capital. Instead of paying attention to those in need, Harris has decided to carelessly socialize.
A spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, Macarena Martinez, criticized the VP for not choosing to go to any border cities during her trip to Texas.
“The Vice President should reconsider her travel plans and visit the southern border that she has so willingly neglected,” Martinez said.
Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn agreed. “Unfortunately, the Administration’s Border Czar hasn’t seen the epicenter of their self-inflicted crisis firsthand, which has overwhelmed our border communities and law enforcement,” Cornyn said. “Instead of using our state as an ATM and leaving as fast as possible, the Vice President should go to the border and meet with Texans to understand the very real costs of her inaction.”
Abbott posted a tweet about the immigrants being dropped off near Harris’s home at the Naval Observatory, saying “We’re sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job and secure the border.” Most of the migrants were from Venezuela, according to reports.
While Harris has made recent trips to Texas, they have been about everything but illegal immigration. On Sept. 8, she spoke at the National Baptist Convention in Houston, speaking about faith, her upbringing, slavery, freedom of voters and women, small businesses run by people of color, prosperity, racial bias, gun control, prescription drug costs – and not one mention of the pressing Border crisis.
