Reports have revealed that a radical Antifa-associated environmentalist group in the Atlanta area referred to as “Treehouse Antifa” has called for a ‘night of rage' on Friday, Jan. 20th after one of their members was killed in an incident with police Wednesday. The incident occurred near a so-called ‘occupied area' where a police training center referred to by protesters as “Cop City” is to be established.

According to The Post Millennial, the “Scenes from the Atlanta Forest” Twitter account posted,

“Consider this a call for reciprocal violence to be done to the police and their allies. On Friday, January 20th, wherever you are, you are invited to participate in a night of rage in order to honor the memory of our fallen comrade.”

The Twitter account was subsequently suspended by Twitter.

Jack Posobiec of Human Events referred to the group as “Treehouse Antifa,” when tweeting out a video of the group “marching and throwing scooters into the road at Little Five Points in Atlanta.”

According to Fox News, the account claimed to be part of “Defend the Atlanta Forest,” one among several groups protesting in a wooded area where the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center is to be constructed.

In a statement to Fox, The group “Defenders of the Forest” claimed it is “a broad, diverse, decentralized movement to defend the Atlanta forest.” The group also claimed that it is only a “news aggregator for the movement” and is “not affiliated” with “Scenes from the Atlanta Forest.”

In an email to Fox 5 Atlanta, the organization “Stop Cop City ATL” claimed that “it is not clear” if the officer was injured by “police fire, a protestor, or a police induced action.”

The group claimed in the statement,

“Police have repeatedly raided the protest encampments in Weelaunee Forest, harassed and detained neighbors walking through the park, and attacked protestors with tear gas and rubber bullets.”

It added, “During past raids, police have consistently escalated violent tactics on protestors (sic) who were sitting in trees or standing in a public park. On multiple occasions, they have cut tree limbs and rope out from under tree sitters in a fashion likely to cause serious injury or death. Today’s raid began with numerous armed police shutting down a public road and pointing guns into the park.”

In a second threatening tweet reported by Fox, “Scenes from the Atlanta Forest” said hours later, “The police will kill you if given the chance. Now is the time for bravery. Take care of each other. Be dangerous together.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in a statement that while conducting a sweep of the wooded area “to identify people who are trespassing and committing other crimes on the property,” a Georgia State Patrol trooper was shot in the abdomen, officers returned fire and shot the assailant fatally.

In a press conference, GBI director Michael Register clearly confirmed to the press that the shooting was defensive in nature and the deceased assailant opened fire on the trooper “without warning.”

“An individual, without warning, shot a Georgia State Patrol trooper,” Register told the press according to Fox. “Other law enforcement personnel returned fire in self-defense and evacuated the trooper to a safe area. The individual who fired upon law enforcement and shot the trooper was killed in the exchange of gunfire.”

The GBI told reporters on Wednesday, “At about 9:00 a.m. today, as law enforcement was moving through the property, officers located a man inside a tent in the woods. Officers gave verbal commands to the man who did not comply and shot a Georgia State Patrol Trooper.”

“Other law enforcement officers returned fire, hitting the man. Law enforcement evacuated the trooper to a safe area. The man died on scene,” the agency added.

The GBI further explained, “The injured Georgia State Patrol Trooper was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. A handgun and shell casings were located at the scene. The GBI is working the officer-involved shooting and the investigation is still active and ongoing.”

The hospitalized officer is in stable condition according to Fox News.
