Far-left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in the news once more for advocating that a free and independent media company (Fox News) should be regulated by the federal government for promoting violence on their channel. During her interview on MSNBC with Jen Psaki, AOC was adamant that, “we have real issues with what is permissable on air,” and that the government is responsible for curtailing the freedom of speech of political opponents.
These remarks come on the heels of a Fox News settlement with Dominion voting machines, where Fox had to dish out $787 million in a settlement with the voting systems company. And just yesterday Tucker Carlson announced that he's leaving Fox News, so what exactly does AOC want from a media company that seems to be losing its influence over the American people?
It's simple: AOC recognizes that Fox News is the last bastion of conservative news on a major cable network, and she wants to see it completely torn down and replaced with one of the many liberal news outlets that constantly echoes the talking points of the Biden administration. If AOC had her way, then all of the independent media outlets would be state-sanctioned so the American people got their news exclusively from the federal government.
It's of vital importance that the media does their role, which is to sometimes criticize the current administration and hold their feet to the fire when they're operating beyond their scope of power. Without a free and independent media, we would have to rely on whatever propaganda the federal government distributes, and we all know that the fed isn't exactly truthful in what policies their enacting.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said over the weekend that Fox News was responsible for inciting violence and that it was the Congress’ job to explore ways to regulate Fox News.
Ocasio-Cortez made the remarks during an interview Sunday on MSNBC with Jen Psaki while discussing Fox News’ recent $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.
“We have very real issues with what is permissible on air, and we saw that with January 6th and we saw that in the lead up to January 6th, and how we navigate questions, not just a freedom of speech but also accountability for incitement of violence,” AOC said. “This is the role we have to really explore through law as well.”
